Rangers ace Barisic is second best defender in Europa League as Morelos and Celtic’s Christie rank highly among forwards

BORNA BARISIC has been ranked as the second best peforming defender in the Europa League.

His Rangers team-mate Alfredo Morelos and Celtic star Ryan Christie also rank highly among forwards.

The Light Blues put in a brilliant performance in Portugal last night as they sealed a 1-1 draw with Porto.

Barisic set up Morelos’ equaliser after playing a low cross into the box that the Colombian fired home.

And the Croatian’s assist sees him ranked as the second best performing defender in the Europa League after the latest round of fixtures.

According to the FedEx Performance Zone on Uefa’s website, Barisic currently has 4,203 points.

It comes after his assist against Porto, combined with the three chances he created and six crosses he attempted on the night.

Only Dynamo Kiev star Artem Shabanov is ahead of him.

Morelos and Christie also rank highly among forwards in the tournament, both landing in the top 15.

The Rangers striker’s scored a goal and had two further attempts on target to boot, while Christie also scored against Lazio and set up Christopher Jullien’s winner.

Morelos’ 4,221 ranking points currently puts him in seventh place, while Christie’s 3,710 places him in 11th.

Arsenal duo Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli are both ahead of them but it’s PSV Eindhoven star Donyell Malen who currently sits on top.

The FedEx Performance Zone organises its Europa League performance rankings by combining data from the competition and domestic leagues.
