RYAN CHRISTIE insists Celtic will be rightful champions if the SPFL decide to crown them.
The Hoops midfielder admits it would be “strange” for Neil Lennon’s men to win the title without kicking another ball this season.
But Christie insists that their 13-point Premiership lead is clear proof they are Scotland’s top team.
Asked how he would feel if the league is called, he said: “It would be strange.
“But we would be crowned rightful champions, I think we have been pretty dominant domestically.
“Everybody would be desperate to play out the final few games.
“Because of the way we were playing before the break, we were on such a terrific run that we felt really confident.
“Towards the end of the season there are massive games you won’t be a part of so it’s gutting to miss out on those.
“But it’s the bigger picture. If that has to be the case to save lives and for the safety of others then so be it.”
Christie admits he can’t wait to get back training and playing — with the sunny weather making things worse.
And he revealed he’s been so bored he’s even started buying new household appliances to pass the time.

Christie said: “A new Hoover was ordered the other day so I will take that for a spin!
“I am missing football loads. I have definitely taken football for granted, I feel that now.
“When football does come back and we can fill stadiums again, there will be a real appreciation for it.
“You realise how big it is in people’s lives, so when it does come back it’ll be a real boost to the sport.”
Christie took a few years to settle at Celtic but admits he now feels at home in the Hoops after a stunning season.

He said: “When I first joined, I was a bit naive. I went on loan to Aberdeen, and that helped as they’re a big team.
“So breaking into Celtic, I’ve realised how demanding it is on you as a player and having to perform every week.
“Once you reach that level, you take it in your stride and it’s a pressure you enjoy because it makes you keep your game at the top.”
