Brown will head for Aberdeen at the end of the season to join Stephen Glass as player-assistant boss, ending one of the most decorated careers in Celtic’s history.

Now Christie feels it would be fitting for him to be cast in bronze outside the stadium.

He said: “Scott will probably deserve a statue outside Celtic Park because he is one of the biggest legends to play for the club.

“There probably aren’t enough positive things I can say about him. From now until the end of the season everybody will be talking about him.

“Even when he steps away nobody can say a bad word about him.

“I am not surprised he’s leaving. It was obviously rumoured and he was keeping his cards close to his chest.

“He has done so well over the years and this season he has been quality again.

“I get to see him train and, for the age he is and the years he has been playing at the top level, he is just incredible.

“The amount of times people have written him off. They said that when Brendan Rodgers came in and he was rejuvenated and came again.

“To be consistently good like that throughout your career is remarkable.”

Brown has won 22 major trophies with the Hoops and is ranked seventh on the club’s all-time appearance list.

Christie joined Celtic as a kid from Inverness Caley Thistle and found Brown a massive influence.

And the Scotland star insists that, once you earned his respect, he was inspirational.

He said: “The first thing he looks for is hard work and you need to win his respect.

“He sets the standards in training every day. If you get his respect then he is quality with you.”

Brown has signed a pre-contract and will join the Dons on a two-year deal from this summer.

He will become the latest high-profile figure to leave Parkhead this year, with manager Neil Lennon already gone and chief executive Peter Lawwell retiring in June.
