RICHARD FOSTER insists Ryan Christie should have stayed at Celtic to win more trophies rather than finish ’10th every year’ with a club like Bournemouth.
The midfielder ended his six-year Hoops career by moving to the English Championship club on transfer deadline day last month.
And it has left the Scotland international facing questions from some fans and pundits over his ambition.
He was one of the Parkhead club‘s most high-profile departures during the summer.
Kristoffer Ajer made his move to play in the English Premier League with Brentford, while Odsonne Edouard headed to Crystal Palace.
But it is Christie’s switch to Bournemouth that has proved especially difficult to understand for Partick Thistle star Foster.
And he insists the 26-year-old would have been better taking a leaf out of Celtic legend Scott Brown’s book.
Speaking on Sportsound, Foster said: “I still struggle with the concept of players that are playing most weeks for a team like Celtic and they want away.

“Ajer has went to Brentford and they’re in the Premiership but with all respect, it’s Brentford.
“Edouard has went to Crystal Palace and he’s had a great start.
“I know these guys are probably hoping to do what [Vigil] van Dijk done and bounce on, and get to the top teams.
“But Christie is the one I really can’t understand.
“You’ve left a club like Celtic who are challenging to win titles and cups, if they win the league this year they go straight into the Champions League group stage.
“And he’s left to go to Bournemouth.
“Celtic are one of the biggest teams in the world, they’ve got a fanbase everywhere.
“Go to Australia, you’ll see people with Celtic tops on.

“I’ve been to America, you’re walking down streets in Las Vegas and there’s hordes of Celtic fans walking about.
“You can’t get away from these Scottish teams and I can’t get my head around why you’d want to go to a smaller team down in England.”
Foster continued: “If I look back at my career, the highlights of my career are when I’ve won things – not the level I’ve played at.
“If you said to me, ‘well done, you’ve played your entire career and you’re 10th in the Premiership every year’, and what?
“You’ve achieved nothing.
“You’ve played in the Premiership, you’ve earned vast sums of money. Great.
“I know Ryan Christie has won things but win more.
“Look at Scott Brown, look what he’s won. He’s probably the most decorated Scottish football player ever!”
