BOURNEMOUTH’s promotion to the Premier League will have a positive effect 450 miles away in Glasgow.

That’s because ex-Celtic star Ryan Christie, a key player in the Cherries successful season in the Championship, could earn the Hoops a £2million cash windfall.

Christie, 27, signed for the south coast club on August 31 last year and gone on to make 38 appearances in England’s second tier, scoring three times.

And as Bournemouth sealed promotion last night with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Celts chiefs were rubbing their hands.

A clause was inserted into the deal that saw Christie move to the Vitality Stadium whereby if his new team achieved promotion, Celtic would be due £2million in incentives.

That’s IF the Cherries can STAY up after winning promotion last night.

MONEY MATTERS

Celtic will earn extra £5million MORE than Rangers in Champions League cash

The money from the clause could go straight into Ange Postecoglou’s transfer kitty for the upcoming window.

Speaking of which, former Celt John Hartson hopes the Aussie will be allowed to splash the cash this summer.

Specifically, he wants the spending spree to start with permanent deals for current loan stars Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota.

He said: “Yeah, he will get [£20million]. He will need that to get Jota and Carter-Vickers over the line if they are to get both of them.

“After last season, it was important that Ange got the recruitment right for the challenge ahead.

“A year ago none of us had heard of Jota or Liel Abada, or others. Let’s get it right. None of us had heard of Kyogo Furuhashi or Reo Hatate or Daizen Maeda either. They said Joe Hart was finished.

“They will back him now because he has already shown his signings have done very well.

“Managers want to go and achieve things at the very highest level.

“Ange won’t want to rest on the fact that he’s only been here a year and won two trophies.

“He’ll want to improve Celtic at the highest level, like Rangers have done over the last three years.

“I think Ange holds all the cards now, they’ve GOT to back him.”
